Associate Director / Manager (Policy and Oversight)
Responsibilities
Oversee the performance of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA) in carrying out its statutory functions. Assess and provide recommendations to HKICPA on its development and implementation of auditing, accounting and assurance standards.
Maintain a robust oversight framework and coordinate with HKICPA and other stakeholders to ensure effective information sharing and follow-up actions taken.
Develop AFRC policy positions on audit quality, and emerging topics including AI in audit, virtual assets and other novel themes.
Lead or support the continuous enhancement of the AFRC's risk-based auditor registration policies, drawing on market research and regulatory developments in Hong Kong and internationally.
Contribute to AFRC's AI tools and other technology initiatives that improve oversight and registration processes.
Collaborate with fellow regulators, professional bodies, audit firms and international counterparts to share insights and support a resilient, future-ready accounting profession.
Support the department's growth and contribute to its strategic objectives.
Fulfil other responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
Qualified Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration or a related discipline.
At least 5 years of post-qualification experience in accounting firms or regulatory bodies.
Passion and strong commitment to building a long-term career within a regulatory body, with a proactive and accountable approach.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail, sound judgement, and the ability to manage multiple tasks independently in a dynamic environment.
Excellent interpersonal, relationship management and presentation skills, with effective communication across a range of stakeholders.
Strong command of written and spoken English and Chinese.
