AFRC Welcomes New Appointments and Re-appointment to the Financial Reporting Review Panel

The Accounting and Financial Reporting Council (AFRC) welcomes the appointments of three new members and the re-appointment of one Convenor to the Financial Reporting Review Panel (FRRP) by the HKSAR Government today. The appointments, effective from 16 July 2026 to 15 July 2029, are as follows:

Newly Appointed Members:

• Mr James Liu Hong-yuen

• Mr Benson Wong Wai-bong

• Mr George Yang Yong

Re-appointed Convenor:

• Mr Ernest Lee Chun-ho

The AFRC also extends its sincere gratitude to the retiring members Ms Carrie Lau Kar-yee, Prof Hung Ming Yi and Prof Wang Xin, for their valuable contributions to the FRRP. Please refer to the list below for the list of newly appointed, re-appointed and retiring FRRP members.

Quality financial reporting is the backbone of a fair and efficient capital market. Members of the FRRP play a vital role in conducting enquiries into possible non-compliance with accounting requirements in listed entities’ financial reports and providing recommendations to the AFRC.

Ms Janey Lai, CEO of the AFRC, said, “The FRRP provides valuable professional input that enables the AFRC to identify and address possible non-compliance with accounting requirements in listed entities’ financial reports. Its work enhances the effectiveness of our regulatory oversight, reinforces accountability in financial reporting, and supports investor protection and the wider public interest.”
