Celebrating a major milestone for the accounting profession – 50th anniversary of the accounting profession

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the issuance of practising certificates to accounting professionals in Hong Kong. To commemorate this major milestone, and as the issuer of practice certificates, the Accounting and Financial Reporting Council ( AFRC ) hosted a celebratory reception today.

At the reception, we welcomed practising certificate holders who have been holding their certificates for 50 years. Dr Kelvin Wong, Chairman of the AFRC remarked, “These pioneers brought dedication, commitment and professionalism to an industry that has become indispensable to Hong Kong’s development as an international finance centre. Many of them have attained outstanding career achievements in accounting and other fields and the one common theme they all shared was their affection and appreciation of the profession. Their success serves as a powerful motivation for aspiring accounting professionals.”
