Financial Reporting Council ( FRC ) welcomes the appointments of two new members and the reappointments of two convenors and 11 members to the Financial Reporting Review Panel ( FRRP ) by the HKSAR Government today, and expresses sincere gratitude to the 5 retiring FRRP members. Please refer to Annex 1 for the list of newly appointed, reappointed and retiring FRRP convenors and members.
Quality financial reporting is the backbone of an efficient financial market, failing which public confidence and trust on listed entities will be undermined. Members of the FRRP play an invaluable role in conducting enquiries into possible non-compliance with accounting requirements in the financial reports of listed entities and making recommendations to the Board of the FRC on the removal of non-compliance identified.
Mr Marek Grabowski, CEO of the FRC said, “Members of the FRRP play an indispensable role in assisting the FRC to take timely and appropriate regulatory actions when non-compliance with accounting standards are identified in financial statements of listed entities. This is highly important in maintaining public confidence in the financial reporting of listed entities and enhancing investor protection.”
Dr Kelvin Wong, Chairman of the FRC remarked, “Leveraging the professional expertise and wise counsel of the FRRP, the FRC has been able to conduct enquiries effectively. My heartfelt gratitude goes to the retiring members for their contributions over the years. I also extend my warmest welcome to the new members and reappointed members of the FRRP. As the independent regulator of the accounting profession, the FRC will continue working seamlessly with the FRRP to uphold the quality of financial reporting and safeguard the integrity of the capital markets of Hong Kong.”
