FRC welcomes the appointment of Mr Christopher Hui as Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury

(22 April 2020, Hong Kong) The Financial Reporting Council (“FRC”) welcomes the appointment of Mr Christopher Hui as Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury.
Dr Kelvin Wong, Chairman of the FRC said, “The FRC welcomes the appointment.
We look forward to working closely with Mr Hui and his Bureau.”
Ms Florence Wong, Acting CEO of the FRC added, “Under the new regime, the FRC has been vested with expanded statutory powers and responsibilities. We are confident that with the unswaying support from the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau under the leadership of Mr Hui, we will be able to fulfil our mission of upholding the quality of financial reporting of listed entities in Hong Kong.”
Dr Wong also conveyed his heartfelt thanks to Mr James Lau, “On behalf of the FRC, I would like to convey my gratitude to Mr Lau for his support to the FRC over the years, in particular, in the passage of the Financial Reporting Council (Amendment) Ordinance 2019 and our smooth transition to the new auditor regulatory regime. We wish him all the best in his retirement.”
