Associate Director / Manager (Policy Research and Development)
Responsibilities
Track and analyse the audit and financial reporting environment in Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland, including the structure and dynamics of the PIE audit market, the audit workforce, and cross-border audit linkages.
Monitor standard-setting, regulatory trends and emerging developments in financial reporting, audit, ethics and sustainability across major jurisdictions, and assess implications for Hong Kong.
Contribute to AFRC’s public consultations and to the drafting of legislative amendments, working alongside the legal team and other functions of the AFRC.
Develop AFRC policy positions on audit quality and emerging topics including AI in audit, virtual assets and other novel themes.
Apply AI and modern analytical tools across research, consultation analysis and stakeholder engagement.
Collaborate with fellow regulators, professional bodies, audit firms, universities, government and other stakeholders to share insights and support a resilient, future-ready accounting profession.
Support the department's growth and contribute to its strategic objectives.
Fulfil other responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree. Candidates from diverse backgrounds (e.g. accounting, economics, public policy, law, data or research) are welcomed.
At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in accounting firms, public bodies, regulators or think tanks.
Ability to frame problems, ask incisive questions, weigh competing considerations and form reasoned views in situations requiring judgment.
Proven ability to produce clear, well-argued written work for senior stakeholders, including analysing quantitative data and synthesising qualitative information into clear and coherent policy positions.
Strong interest in audit, financial reporting and capital markets, with openness to adopting modern analytical tools including AI.
Excellent interpersonal, relationship management and presentation skills, with effective communication across a range of stakeholders.
Strong command of written and spoken English and Chinese.
